The teen recently sentenced for the 2023 murder of a Toledo-area gas station worker is now  accused of spitting blood on a Green Hill School staff member in February.

Daniel Keough, 18, is charged with one count of custodial assault, a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

Keough made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Tuesday.

During the hearing, a judge agreed with the state’s request to set bail at $5,000 cash or bond and scheduled an arraignment for April 9.

Public defender Chris Baum has been assigned to represent Keough. Baum represented Keough in previous cases.

Earlier, Keough said he was going to be transported to the Department of Corrections in two weeks. He’s currently at Green Hill School, the juvenile detention facility in Chehalis.

The defendant is roughly two months into a 295-month sentence for the murder of 30-year-old Navjot Singh and a series of crimes committed during an attempted escape from the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center early last year.

In a probable cause affidavit, filed March 30, Lewis County prosecutors allege that Keough was involved in a physical altercation on Feb. 15 at Green Hill School.

The affidavit says staff noticed Keough was bleeding after they “got control of the defendant.”

“While being escorted to his room, the defendant turned and spit blood on the member of the staff who was performing his official duties at the time of the event,” the affidavit says.

Keough was sentenced to 24 years and seven months in prison on Feb. 2 after making Barr pleas to amended charges of second-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and first-degree escape in order to benefit from a plea deal.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree assault for attacking two detention center officers during his attempted escape in January 2025.

Quinton Ramey, Keough’s accomplice in the armed robbery, pleaded guilty to murder and theft charges in November 2024. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

A third defendant, Taylor Lenihan, pleaded guilty to robbery and firearm possession charges in May 2023. Lenihan awaits a sentencing hearing scheduled for May 20.
