Despite a low number of kills, stout serving and a strong back line allowed the Beavers to rally down 2-0 and piece together a 19-25, 15-25, 26-24, 25-13, 18-16 triumph over the Cruisers on Wednesday night.
Eatonville nearly secured a sweep, but Tenino won the set and turned the momentum into a dominant fourth set to square the match. In a back-and-forth final set barn-burner, the Beavers finished off the comeback.
“They really did a great job of keeping positive,” Beavers head coach Shauna Carpenter said. “Eatonville is a great gym to play in. They have a great crowd and it helps keep us hyped.”
Jaeleen Woodward finished 24-for-24 from the service line and six aces while Presley Vanchen notched two aces on 8-for-8. Senior Katen Burkhardt recorded 10 assists, four dumps and three aces.
Tenino will head to the Yakima Valley SunDome for a tournament this weekend. Its first game back in SW Washington will be on the road against W.F. West.
