Terry Homers 3 Times in Pirates’ Doubleheader Win Over Cards

In a dominant day in the box, Adna’s Sawyer Terry hit a ball out of the yard not once, not twice, but three times to help lead the Pirates past Winlock in a home doubleheader Monday afternoon, 11-0 and 19-0.

Terry went a combined 3-4 at the plate Monday with five runs scored, six RBIs, and three home runs.

“It was unbelievable,” Adna coach Thad Nelson said. “He had a great day at the plate, very happy for him seeing the ball well. The kids played well, we responded well from the adversity last week in our first loss, too.”

In the first game, an 11-0 win, Tristan Percival went three innings on the mound, striking out eight with just one hit allowed. Asher Guerrero also added a 2 for 2 line at the plate with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs.

Winlock’s James Cusson managed the only hit of the game for the Cardinals.

In the second game — a 19-0 Adna win — Guerrero had seven strikeouts in three innings to start, Terry mashed another home run with three runs scored and three RBIs, and Percival went 1 for 2 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

The Pirates play Kalama on the road at 3 p.m. Friday while Winlock hosts Morton-White Pass.
