Third-Quarter Turnaround Leads Pe Ell Past Ocosta

An hour and a half on the bus took its toll on the Pe Ell girls basketball team, which needed a half to get in rhythm, but the Trojans found their groove just in time to come away 42-35 winners at Ocosta on Monday.

The Trojans (6-2, 1-1 1B CVL) outscored the Wildcats 15-5 in the third quarter, to turn a six-point halftime deficit into a three-point lead. Charlie Carper led the turnaround with nine points in the period, and finished with a game-high 17.

Freshman Madi Engel added nine points, hitting a pair of clutch 3-pointers in the third.

Pe Ell will wrap its calendar year up at home on Wednesday against Wishkah Valley.
