All proceeds from the 5K go to providing children in the community access to mental health resources.

The Drew North Suicide and Mental Health Awareness 5K is organized by the Drew North Foundation, an Onalaska-based nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and suicide by providing teenagers with resources, knowledge and coping skills to get through adverse situations.

It was founded following the death of Drew “Boogie” Douglass in 2021. Douglass died by suicide at the age of 14.

“Despite always having a smile on his face, he, like many of his peers, silently struggled with anxiety and depression,” the nonprofit’s website states.
