Thurston County Tallies 721 New COVID-19 Cases , No Deaths

Thurston County reported 721 new COVID-19 cases and no deaths during the period of July 18 through July 24.

The previous week there were 615 cases reported and zero deaths between July 10 to July 17.  

Out of the 54,831 total county cases reported by July 27, patients who have recovered or are recovering increased to 53,146, according to the county health department.

As of July 27, the county health department reported a total of 2,637 COVID-related hospitalizations and 410 deaths in Thurston County since the start of the pandemic.

Health care workers have vaccinated 66% of the population countywide since the beginning of the pandemic, according to Washington state Department of Health (DOH).



In neighboring Pierce County, deaths per 100,000 population couldn’t be calculated because less than 10 people died, and new cases were down at 213.6 per 100,000 population as of July 26, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. 

The total number of cases in the county reached 220,454 as of July 26, with 1,462 deaths, according to DOH.

In Washington state, as of July 26, there were 1,726,045 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, a total of 68,122 people have been hospitalized because of the illness, and 13,561 people have died, according to DOH.

Over 14 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state. 

Nationwide, as of July 26, there were 90,227,956 total cases since the start of the pandemic. There were 1,022,349 confirmed deaths and 83.4% of Americans 5 years old and up have at least one of the vaccinations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
