Tigers and Cruisers stay scoreless

The defenses won the day on both sides in the Napavine girls soccer team’s season debut at 1A Eatonville on Tuesday, as the Tigers and Cruisers played 80 scoreless minutes in a non-league contest and settled for a 0-0 tie.

“It’s non-league, so we didn’t have to decide a winner and a loser,” Napavine assistant Chris Tarabochia said.

Taylen Evanden made five saves for the Tigers, including one key stop at the crossbar on a free kick, and a second that saved the result for the guests on a one-on-one Eatonville chance.

Elsewise, the back line held firm all night, with Tarabochia pointing to Maddie Dickinson for dealing with more than a few threats with her speed.

“Collectively, it was a good team effort to hold a good team like that scoreless for 80 minutes,” he said.

Napavine will return home to host 1B Evergreen Lutheran on Wednesday.
