Still unbeaten in the early season, the Centralia softball team defeated Black Hills on the road Wednesday afternoon for its third win in as many days, 5-3.

The Tigers’ one-two punch in the pitcher's circle was once again lethal, with Peyton Smith getting the start and pitching three innings, allowing three hits, walking two, and striking out four while only giving up two earned runs. Hollynn Wakefield stepped in and finished the game out, allowing just one unearned run on two hits with six strikeouts over four innings.

At the plate, Jimena Luis knocked in a run on a triple, Gracie Schofield went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and a walk, Makayla Chavez knocked in two runs on a base hit, and Lauren Wasson went 2 for 4 with a run scored.

The Wolves’ Zoey Theophilus, despite the loss, had a strong day in the circle, throwing six strikeouts with just four runs earned on six hits and two walks. Sam West hit a double to lead things at the plate, along with Madi Malone, who went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI knock.

Centralia will finish out its game against Shelton Thursday at Borst Park while Black Hills takes spring break off before returning to play against Shelton on the road April 12.
