Tigers dominate, take two from Cardinals

The Napavine baseball team had its way in two games against Winlock on Monday, as the Tigers topped the Cardinals 20-0 and 19-0 in a C2BL doubleheader.

An 11-run second helped Napavine (13-3, 13-3 C2BL) break open the first game, one where Ashton Demarest pitched four shutout innings.

Demarest not only didn’t allow a hit, but he didn’t allow a batter to put a ball in play. Of the 14 batters he faced, two reached via walk, and the other 12 struck out. He also went 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and three runs batted in.

Conner Holmes went 3 for 3 with three doubles and two RBIs, and Beckett Landram tallied two hits in three at-bats and scored four runs.

It was much of the same in Game 2, as Cal Bullock and Silas Bissonette combined to strike out 10 in five shutout innings.

Landram went 3 for 4 with an RBI, while Demarest recorded another pair of hits and RBIs.

James Cusson logged both of the Cardinals (2-14, 2-14 C2BL) hits, including a triple.

Both teams will hit the road for non-league matchups on Tuesday, as Winlock will head to Castle Rock and Napavine will go to Mossyrock.
