Tigers Lose to Highclimbers

The Centralia softball team lost its second game in a row, as Shelton clung to a one-run lead to win a back-and-forth battle at home Friday 7-6.

The Tigers got off to a hot start in the first thanks to a 2-RBI single from Jimena Luis and a bases-loaded walk. However they were quickly matched by the Highclimbers with three first-inning runs of their own.

The lively first inning set the tone for the high-scoring league clash. Centralia kept rolling into the second, tacking on two more runs. But that's where momentum turned in the Highclimbers’ favor, as they scored a pair of runs in each of the next two innings.

Centralia’s Makenzie Erickson helped put up the Tigers’ sixth run with an RBI single in the top of the fifth. But it wasn't quite enough to match the Highclimbers. Fielding mistakes added an extra sting to the loss for The Tigers as they committed five fielding errors, three of which resulted in Shelton runs.

Peyton Smith and Hollynn Wakefield combined for seven strikeouts while allowing nine hits

The Centralia softball team looks to get its momentum rolling again and pick up a league win Monday in Tumwater.
