Tigers Pour in Six Goals in First Half, Blank Riptide

Led by Hayden Kaut’s first-half hat trick, the Napavine girls soccer team defeated Raymond-South Bend at home, 8-0.

Kaut scored in the 2nd, 34th, and 40th minutes to boost the Tigers to a huge early lead, then tacked one more onto her line in the 49th.

Abby Marcial followed Kaut’s opener with a second within the first 10 minutes, Haley Gallagher followed that with a goal of her own, and the Riptide put the ball in their own net in the 35th minute. Napavine went into halftime leading 6-0.

Coming out of the break, Kaut put the final notch in her belt, and 17 minutes later, fellow freshman Taylen Evander made it 8-0.

Danielle Tupuola logged a pair of assists – on Kaut’s first and third goals – and Maya Kunkel got one on a long throw-in into the box for Kaut’s fourth.

“We possessed it well, we passed it well, our defense is playing great,” said assistant coach Chris Tarabochia, noting that RSB only managed a single shot on target all game long.

Napavine (6-1, 2-0 league) will get a busy week on the bus coming up, heading to Adna next Monday, Forks next Wednesday, and Evergreen Lutheran in Tacoma next Friday.
