Tigers Take Down Wolves in Pivotal League Battle

In a critical 2A Evergreen Conference matchup between two teams fighting for district berths, the Centralia boys soccer team upended Black Hills on the road, thanks to a golden goal in the second extra time period by Miles Page, 2-1.

The Tigers fell behind in the first half after a Wolves goal, but immediately got to work in the second, with Darrell Neuert converting off an Angel Rojas corner kick with a 47th minute header goal to tie the game.

After trading possession and fighting for another goal for another 40 minutes and change, the Tigers finally struck through in the second period of extra time, just minutes before the game would’ve been forced into penalty kicks. Page weaved through the Wolves defense and put the game-winner through the back of the net in sudden death in the 88th.

Tigers’ keeper Carlos Hernandez finished with eight saves, the Tigers managed to put 13 shots on target over the course of the game.

The win ensures the Tigers are still in a spot to compete for a district berth as the postseason nears. They’ll return to the pitch against Aberdeen on Tuesday next week.
