Titans use late scoring surge to top Vikings

An eight-run seventh was more than enough for the Pe Ell-Willapa Valley baseball team to come away with a 10-4 victory at Mossyrock on Wednesday.

After the Titans (11-2, 3-1 P2BL) and Vikings (5-4, 3-0 1B CVL) entered the sixth tied at one, the Titans took a 2-1 lead with a run in the top half.

Mossyrock responded with three in the bottom half, however, which gave them a 4-2 lead going into the seventh.

In the seventh, the first four batters reached base for PWV, and Connor Keeton gave the Titans the lead with a two-run single.

PWV continued to add insurance runs, including a pair of two-run singles from Blaine King and Aiden Young, to extend the lead to six.

Liam Smaciarz went five and a third on the mound, allowing four hits and four runs (one earned) while walking four and striking out eight. After a scoreless two-thirds of an inning from Keeton, Lucas Lusk finished off the win by striking out three of the four batters he faced in the bottom of the seventh.

Young and Keeton combined to drive in five runs, while Max Jarvis went 2 for 4 with a double, triple, and an RBI of his own.

Easton Kolb pitched four strong innings for Mossyrock, allowing just one run while striking out five, and Mason Atter drove in a pair at the plate.

Mossyrock will have the chance to bounce back on Thursday against Wishkah Valley, while Pe Ell-Willapa Valley will look to keep rolling on Friday at Adna.
