Toledo can’t overcome slow start in sweep vs. Ocosta

The Toledo volleyball team couldn’t overcome the Ocosta Wildcats on Monday, losing in three sets 25-17, 25-19, 25-21.

Coach Kelli Larson said that while there were stints during the game where the Riverhawks (3-3) finished off some long rallies, the Ocosta defense was able to limit the damage.

“Overall we just couldn’t sustain the battle for enough side outs to win sets,” Larson said.

She also added that their confidence hitting the ball was shaken early, as Ocosta’s 6 foot, 2 inch tall middle blocker was able to block a handful of hits.

Ellie Fallon had another solid day, totalling nine digs, seven kills and two blocks. Jordynne Hensley also had seven kills, and Stefa Arceo-Hansen recorded seven digs.

Whitney Olson tallied 21 assists and six digs, and Lyndzie Filla served three aces.

It’s a short turnaround for the Riverhawks, as they continue their five-game road trip tomorrow with a trip to Winlock before heading to Adna on Thursday.
