One good quarter gave way to three tough ones for the Pe Ell boys basketball team, which got outscored by 31 points in the final 24 minutes against Ocosta in a 71-42 loss.
“We started great,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. “But we did not finish the way we wanted. The shot the ball well and we struggled at times”
The roughest stretch came out of halftime, when the Wildcats went on a 15-2 run in the third quarter to turn a three-point halftime lead into a 16-point advantage. From there, Ocosta’s offense took off for 25 points in the fourth.
Kail Homan led all scorers with 22 points, but was the only Trojan to make it into double figures.
Pe Ell (3-4, 2-1 1B CVL) is slated for a league matchup against Oakville on Wednesday.
