Trojans’ Offense Sputters in Loss

The Pe Ell boys basketball team’s offense had a quiet Saturday, and the Trojans fell to Ocosta 50-33 in a non-league contest.

“Our young men always play hard,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. “I have to do a better job of getting them to play smarter.”

The Trojans mustered just 10 points in the first half — five in the first quarter and five in the second — and didn’t break double digits in a period until the fourth. No Pe Ell player finished in double-figures individually, with senior Kail Homan leading the Trojans with nine points and Carter Phelps scoring eight.

The loss drops Pe Ell to 1-3 overall on the season. The Trojans will return to 1B Columbia Valley League play Tuesday at the Washington School for the Deaf.
