Led by a dominant night serving and some strong passing, the Pe Ell volleyball team defeated Wishkah Valley in the first round of the 1A District 4 volleyball playoffs in straight sets, 25-6, 25-13, 25-15.

The game was do-or-die for the Trojans, which needed to win to preserve its season and live to fight another day.

Madi Engel had eight kills for Pe Ell, and Brookelynn King, Charlie Carper, and Bailey Cox all served 100% on the night in the win.

“We did very well passing, probably one of the best nights we had for that,” Trojans coach Eddi Peterson said. “Set two and three we were able to get our bench to play. Freshman Ava King and Brynnlee Hoffman came off the bench and served really well for us.”

The Trojans will take on rival Willapa Valley next in another win-or-go-home contest on the road Wednesday.
