Another piece to the Mossyrock boys basketball team’s puzzle fell into place Monday, in an 83-56 blowout of Naselle.
The Vikings (4-1, 3-0) welcomed back point guard Easton Kolb, who had missed the first four games of the season with a sprained ankle suffered in the state football semifinals, and despite only playing 19 minutes, Kolb filled up the stat book with 10 points, eight assists, five rebounds and three steals.
“He’s the floor general for us,” assistant coach Kelly Ross said. “He took that role over at the end of last season, and it was nice to have him back in that role. When the ball is in his hands, the game slows down a little bit.”
At the same time, Zack Munoz went off for 35 points, canning seven 3-pointers, including four in the second quarter alone.
Munoz also racked up seven assists.
“He is one of the better shooters I think in the state,” Ross said. “People know who he is and what he does, so it’s important for him to share the ball when teams key in on him.”
Tyce Vigre added 15 points, and Hunter Isom had 14 to go along with nine rebounds.
Coming off a tough shooting performance against Rainier over the weekend, the Vikings went back to their gunsTuesday, scoring 19 points in the first quarter before dropping 31 more in the second to go into halftime 50-22.
As a team, Mossyrock drilled 11 3-pointers in the opening 16 minutes.
“Maybe they watched game film of that Rainier game and they let us shoot, and we were happy to let it fly,” Ross said.
Mossyrock is set to face the Washington School for the Deaf on Thursday.
