Vikings Start Fast in Win Over Rival Naselle

Putting together a strong performance at the plate, the Mossyrock softball team defeated rival Naselle on the road Thursday evening, 10-4.

The Vikings were led by another strong performance from Hailey Brooks, who went 1 for 2, advancing to third on an error at the fence and smacking a home run, with three runs scored, an RBI, and drawing intentional three walks.

Lois Stone added a double and a triple and two RBIs, and Erin Cournyer smacked a double.

Cournyer also got the look in the circle, pitching the first five innings and striking out five with no hits allowed and no walks.

“Erin pitched probably her best game of the year,” Mossyrock coach Keith Coleman said. “She was throwing strikes. Her control was probably the best it’s been all year. She’s thrown three games this week… I told her that the more she throws, the better she’s getting.”

The Vikings now head off to spring break, and will resume play against Wishkah Valley at home April 10.
