Visiting Nurses Foundation awards $20,000 in scholarships to aspiring health care professionals

This week, the Visiting Nurses Foundation announced $20,000 in scholarships this spring to individuals, both college and high school students, pursuing degrees in the medical field.

The scholarships underscore the foundation’s steadfast commitment to nurturing the next generation of health care professionals, according to a news release from the organization.

“We take tremendous pride in supporting the next generation of healthcare workers,” Jacki Jewell, executive director of the Visiting Nurses Foundation, stated in the news release. 

The scholarships were awarded as follows:

$2,000 scholarships:

• Abbigale Carper — Adna High School

• Kenzie Holcomb — Centralia College

• Meagan Counts — Centralia College

• Lyndzie Filla — Toledo High School

• Evalena Thomas — Centralia College

• Samantha Schrader — South Puget Sound Community College

 

$1,000 scholarships:



• Ava McGregor — W.F. West High School

• Orion Schroeder — W.F. West High School

• Emma Elder — Adna High School

• Kate Wickert — Centralia High School

• K’Lea Canterbury — Centralia College

• Molly Williams — Centralia College

$500 scholarships:

• Christian Lopez — Centralia College

• Emily Hartwell — WF West High School

The application process for the scholarships was open to all interested candidates, and information was distributed to counselors at local schools. The foundation will continue its support of aspiring health care professionals with another round of applications accepted in the fall for additional scholarship opportunities, according to the news release.

The Visiting Nurses Foundation is dedicated to creating funding for education and assistance for Home Health and Hospice patients and their families.

“All complete applications were meticulously reviewed by the foundation office and the Visiting Nurse Foundation Scholarship Committee to determine the number of recipients and scholarship amounts,” the news release stated.
