Warriors Fall to Monte After Seventh-Inning Collapse

Trailing Montesano 7-5 entering the seventh inning, Rochester surrendered six runs to the Grizzlies and were unable to mount a comeback in a 13-5 non-league loss at home Friday.

The Warriors scattered 10 hits on the day, led by multi-hit performances from Johnny Childers, Brady Baird and Mason Ubias. But the Warriors were unable to string together hits other than a big second inning where they scored all five of their runs.

Garren Smith and Braden Hartley each drove in a run for Rochester as well, and Hartley added a triple. Landon Hawes stole two bases and Hartley swiped one.

Kyle Wilson pitched four innings, striking out seven while allowing five hits on three earned runs, while Owen Gillaspie, Ledger Anderson and Palmer Watt all logged one inning each.

Monte was led by Isaac Pierce’s 3 for 4 performance at the plate with three RBI and two runs. Christian Morris went 3 for 5 with two RBI.

Rochester (1-3) next hosts Centralia at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
