The Washington Orthopaedic Center celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, marking five decades in orthopedic medicine and dedication to serving patients in Lewis County and beyond.

“As Washington Orthopaedic Center commemorates its 50th anniversary, the organization remains dedicated to providing personalized, quality care to individuals from all walks of life, regardless of race, creed, gender, religious preference, or financial situation,” the center stated in a news release.

Founded in 1973 by Dr. Larry Hull, the center “has grown into a leading provider of orthopedic care, guided by Christian principles and a commitment to compassionate healing,” Washington Orthopedic Center stated in a news release.

Hull had a vision to establish an organization that would offer high-quality orthopedic care to the community while upholding his core values, according to the news release.

Throughout his 35 years of service, Hull “demonstrated unwavering dedication to his patients and the advancement of orthopedic medicine” and left behind “a remarkable legacy” when he retired in January 2008, according to the news release.

Despite retiring, Hull's passion for medical mission work never waned. He embarked on nearly 30 trips since 1976, primarily in Central America and Papua New Guinea, providing much-needed care and donating orthopedic equipment to those in need, according to the news release.

Hull's impact extended beyond his medical expertise, as he played an instrumental role in building an on-site family medical clinic for the local residents through his family-owned coffee plantation in Papua New Guinea, Washington Orthopedic Center stated.

Hull died in April 2018, “leaving behind a void in the orthopedic community,” the center stated, adding, “His memory will forever be cherished for his compassionate patient care and unwavering dedication to humanitarian efforts.”

Since Hull's passing, Washington Orthopaedic Center has continued to thrive, expanding its reach and delivering exceptional orthopedic care to patients across Western Washington, per the news release.
