The Washington State Patrol reported Sunday evening that it is seeking witnesses to a two-car crash that left six people dead in Tacoma earlier in the day.
Troopers hope people who saw the wreck, especially anyone with dash-cam video, would come forward to help in the investigation, according to a news release.
"When an incident of this magnitude occurs, we strive to be as thorough as possible with our investigation in order to provide those affected by it with as many answers as we can," the news release stated.
People who drive Teslas but don't know how to access video from their car can seek assistance from troopers, the news release stated.
The wreck occurred about 11:17 a.m. at state Route 509 and Alexander Avenue East.
The State Patrol said a white BMW X7 with two people inside was north on Route 509 when it collided with a gray Kia traveling east on Alexander Avenue. Six of the seven people inside the Kia were killed, and the survivor was in critical condition at a local hospital Sunday evening.
The people inside the BMW were injured and were listed in stable condition Sunday evening, troopers said.
Northbound Route 509 was shut down for six hours after the wreck.
