A perfect 6-0 on the season, and still flawless in league play at 5-0, the W.F. West tennis team just keeps on rolling.

The Bearcats beat Shelton Friday afternoon, 5-1, to stay perfect.

In the first singles match, Joseph Chung was put to the test for the first time this season, and responded well in a 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) win to start things off up top.

“It was a good match for him,” Bearcats coach Jack State said. “He learned that he had to be more patient and wait for his opportunities.”

W.F. West’s only loss of the afternoon came from the second singles court, where Andrew Boggess fell 6-1, 6-1.

On the third singles court, Sam Mittge won 6-0, 6-1, and was commended by State, who said it was Mittge’s first varsity singles match.

The Bearcats swept through Shelton in doubles, with first pair Javyn Han and Aaron Boggess winning 6-1, 6-0, second pair Bryce Kuykendall and Hans Meier winning 7-5, 6-1, and third pair Will Cummings and Mason Walter winning 6-2, 6-1.

W.F. West has Tumwater next on the road on Wednesday.
