Three years ago, Jackson Martin took over as head coach of the Black Hills High School boys golf team. He witnessed the best team score under his tutelage.

Ignited by a nine-hole 38 from Phoenix Flores and the rest of the varsity lineup under 50, the Wolves nudged past Shelton 209-230 on Monday afternoon at Tumwater Valley Golf Course. Flores was the runner-up behind the Highclimbers’ Austin Covert.

Jack Casler and Kendell Robertson each fired a 41 while Ethan Badger notched a 43 to round out the Wolves low-four. Logan Stallings scored a 44 and Landon Echols registered a 46.

Black Hills will return to the course at Highland to face Aberdeen.
