Wolves Get into Win Column over Beavers

The Black Hills girls basketball team earned its first win of the season Friday in a non-league affair, beating Tenino 44-25 in Stone City.

Sophomore Kiley McMahon did the bulk of the damage for the Wolves, racking up 20 points, while fellow sophomore Kaytlyn Serl added 11. Junior Ava Klovas scored seven points, and Claire Johnson pitched in six.

Bri Asay led Tenin with 14 points, 11 of which came in the second half.

The Wolves staked out their early lead thanks to a tough first half for the Beavers, who turned the ball over 19 times in the first 16 minutes.

“Too many turnovers hurt our scoring chances,” Tenino coach Doug Ashmore said.

Black Hills (1-3, 0-1 2A EvCo) is slated to play at Rainier next Monday, in a makeup for a game that was snowed out earlier in the season. Tenino (1-3) will face off against Columbia Adventist.
