The Black Hills boys soccer team’s first postseason run in five years came to an end Thursday, as Woodland, the No. 5 team out of the 2A GSHL, scored three goals in the second half to beat the Wolves 3-2 in the 2A District 4 pigtail.

Black Hills took a 1-0 lead thanks to Brady Mitchell midway through the first half, and carried the advantage into the break. Out of halftime, the Wolves continued to cling to the lead, but a Woodland barrage finally landed an equalizer in the 57th minute, and five minutes after that, the Beavers went ahead on a header.

Woodland got the insurance it would need in the 70th minute from the penalty spot, and while Black Hills got one goal back, it couldn’t find an equalizer.

Black Hills’ season comes to an end with an 8-9 record.
