Adna High School seniors gathered for a photo with a check for $29,165 on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The money was raised at the Adna Car Show for the Adna Scholarship Fund. The check was presented by Adna Grocery owners Jim Smith and Cindy Smith at Adna High School.

Seniors who worked at the car show will split the money.

"We would like to thank everyone that helped out on making the car show a success," Jim Smith wrote. "First off, all the seniors and parents, Angie Krause, Jen Krugger and Jim Smith for the sound system, Pat Murphy and the Straitshot Band, Backfire Band, Jen and Patrick O'Dell and their Water'n Hole, Kate Madison and the Market Street Pub, vendors, Barb and Frank Mason and Bill Reisinger, all of our sponsors and people that donated to our live and silent auctions."

The Smiths have hosted events to raise funds for the Adna football and girls basketball teams this year. They presented members of the Adna High School football program with a check for $5,342.63 after hosting the Adna Crab Feed fundraiser in April. Members of the Adna girls basketball team were presented with a check for $3,859 in May, money raised during the first Adna Sausage Fest held at the Adna Grange.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Smiths hosted an event to raise money for the Adna wrestling program. The all-you-can-eat Adna Clam and Corn Feed was held from noon to 6 p.m. at the Adna Grange. It was sponsored by Adna Grocery and Uncle Jim’s Smokehouse. Look for an update on the amount of money raised at the event in an upcoming edition of The Chronicle.
