The W.F. West boys basketball team made like the weekend weather and went frigid Saturday afternoon, in a 59-36 non-league.

The Bearcats (8-5, 5-1 2A EvCo) jumped out to an early 7-4 lead in the first quarter, but proceeded to allow a 23-6 run through the end of the half, going into the break down 27- 13 after scoring just four points in the second quarter.

As a team, W.F. West finished at 32.7% from the field, went 2 for 11 from beyond the arc, and just 2 for 5 from the free-throw line.

Gage Brumfield and Grady Westlund led what scoring there was with eight points apiece, all of Brumfield’s points coming in the second half. Parker Eiswald — who also was held scoreless for the first two quarters — finished with six points, and Tyler Klatush had five, though he didn’t score after halftime.

Parker Eiswald had eight rebounds to lead the hosts on the glass.

W.F. West will head to Cowlitz County to play 3A Kelso at Lower Columbia College’s MLK Day Classic on Monday.
