The W.F. West girls basketball team took a 10-point lead into halftime Saturday in Shoreline but couldn’t hold it, losing 52-44 to 1A contenders Kings.

The Bearcats (12-3, 7-0 2A EvCo) held the host Knights to just seven points in the first quarter, and built up a 27-17 lead at the break. But the Kings drilled four 3-pointers in a 22-point third quarter to completely flip the game on its head, and ended up holding W.F. West to just 17 points in the 16 minutes of the second half.

Julia Dalan scored 20 points to lead the Bearcats, including going 8 of 11 from the free-throw line. Amanda Bennett had one of her better offensive outings of the winter behind her, hitting two triples to finish on eight points.

W.F. West will get another non-league test Monday when it hosts Ridgefield in a possible district tournament preview.
