Better late than never.

The W.F. West offense took a while to get going on Friday, but the Bearcats were able to plate five in the eighth to top Olympic 5-0 and push their win streak to five.

Nate Dahlin and Cole Ozretich made sure that the Trojans couldn’t capitalize, combining to allow just seven hits in eight shutout innings.

Dahlin got the start, going the first five and striking out six, while Ozretich got the win out of the bullpen by pitching the final three innings, where he struck out one.

Miles Martin and Connor Coleman made it 2-0 with back-to-back RBI singles in the eighth, and Andrew McMillan made it 4-0 with a two-run single. A Braden Jones sac fly brought home the fifth and final run.

Deacon Meller and Martin were the only Bearcats to record multiple base hits, as Meller finished 3 for 4 with a double and Martin went 2 for 3.

W.F. West will head back north next Friday, April 5, to take on Bainbridge.
