When he was contacted by a police officer on Aug. 1, a 59-year-old Centralia man explained that he was wearing fishnet shorts that exposed his genitals in order to avoid tan lines when he was at the river with a lady.
The officer wasn’t buying it, though, as just two days earlier Donald Andrew Daley had been accused of exposing himself to a woman while seated in a vehicle along Harrison Avenue in Centralia.
Daley was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail with bail initially set at $25,000 over the weekend. On Monday, Aug. 4, he made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court, where has been charged with indecent exposure, a Class C felony that in his case is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Daley was most recently convicted of indecent exposure in Centralia Municipal Court on May 30, 2023.
On July 30, a Centralia police officer responded to a Harrison Avenue address after a woman reported a man in a silver Volvo had called her over to his vehicle while wearing a “see-through lace thing” that exposed his genitals. He also had a vibrator that was “going off,” according to the affidavit of probable cause filed by prosecutors. He was allegedly only wearing orange lace women’s underwear at the time.
The victim “stated she felt victimized by this exposure and that she experienced feelings of disgust and fear due to the male's actions,” court documents state.
An officer located the Volvo two days later, finding Daley in the vehicle wearing fishnet shorts.
On Monday, Judge Paul Strophy noted Daley’s relative lack of recent criminal history — which includes no felonies — and that the offense was not violent while setting his bail at $5,000.
Daley’s next court appearance is set for Thursday, Aug. 7. As of Tuesday afternoon, he remained in the Lewis County Jail.
