Chehalis police make arrest following shooting; no injuries reported

A 39-year-old Chehalis man has been arrested following a shooting on Monday morning, according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

At 6:08 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, Chehalis officers responded to a dispute in the 100 block of Southwest Sixth Street that included a report that one individual had fired a gun toward another individual. 

The suspect and apparent victim had both left the scene before police arrived. 

“Upon investigation, officers were able to confirm a shooting had taken place,” Chehalis police stated in a news release. 

The suspect was located by officers after a search of the area. 



Michael McCallum was arrested and booked into jail for first-degree assault with a firearm and drive-by shooting. 

Officers recovered what is believed to be the firearm used. No injuries were reported.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” the police department stated in the release. “No other information will be released at this time.”
