Chehalis Teen Airlifted After Vehicle Crashes Into Tree Tuesday

A 16-year-old Chehalis boy sustained serious neck and head injuries Tuesday afternoon and was airlifted for medical treatment after the vehicle he was riding in crashed into a tree near Adna, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The teen, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the 1998 Jeep Cherokee, a 16-year-old Seattle boy, swerved for unknown reasons into a tree on the 100 block of Brockway Road shortly before 1 p.m.

There were three other passengers in the vehicle. Two Chehalis girls, ages 13 and 15, both sustained minor injuries. A 17-year-old Chehalis boy who was not injured.

The driver was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for an outstanding warrant.

He will also be referred for charges of second-degree driving while license suspended and for taking a motor vehicle without permission.

He will also face charges of obstructing law enforcement after he allegedly lied to police about his identity following the collision.

The Jeep was totalled.
