Cider Press and Tree Sale to raise money for Tool Bucket Library and other programs

Posted

A Community Cider Press and Tree Sale will raise funds to support the WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) Volunteers’ MRC Tool Bucket Library and other community outreach programs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Floral Park Sustainability Project, 104 E. Floral St., Centralia.

Community members are invited to bring their own apples and containers to the event. Volunteers will run the apples through the press. Event organizers advise that 30 to 40 apples are needed to make 1 gallon of cider.

Volunteers will have a variety of potted up trees for sale in addition to running the cider press for community members, according to a news release from event organizers.

Donations for the use of the cider press and the tree sale proceeds will support the ongoing operation of the MRC Tool Bucket Library, one of the projects of the Master Recycler Composters of Lewis County, which is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, as well as other MRC outreach programs, such as the Repair & Sustainability Fair and composting workshops.

Volunteers will need ongoing funding to pay for the library’s liability insurance, to repair and replace broken tools, and support the online library’s cataloging and reservation system.

Individuals interested in learning more about the MRC Tool Bucket Library can visit http://www.mrctoolbucketlibary.org. Members can reserve tools between Saturday and Thursday for pickup on Fridays at Floral Park. Tools must be returned in clean condition the following Friday.
