Comedian Adam Ray Bringing Act to Fox Theatre

Seattle-born comedian Adam Ray will visit Centralia’s Fox Theatre for a show Saturday evening presented by Hub City Comedy.

Ray is an acclaimed comedian and a regular at Hollywood Improv, Comedy Store and Laugh Factory in Los Angeles. Ray has been seen in television shows “Two Broke Girls,” “According to Jim,” “Human Giant” and “Punk’d.”

The show will also feature Kelsey Cook. Jubal Flagg of Seattle radio station Movin 92.5 will host the event.

Show producer Gabe Botten, who also owns Carroll’s Photography in Centralia, says this is Hub City Comedy’s first show that will take place in the Fox Theatre. Botten, who calls himself a “comedy nerd,” told The Chronicle he believed the Fox would be the perfect venue for the show, and worked with the theatre and Centralia car audio shop Sight and Sound Connections to bring the show to reality.

“The end goal is to create some buzz and demand for us and the theatre,” Botten said.

Botten said he approached the Fox Theatre about hosting a comedy show after he saw the progress being done on the renovations.

“It looks a little more cozy now. I’ve been there a few times and always thought it was a cool venue,” Botten said. “I told them I wanted to put a show up here and we were able to make it happen.”

The event is open to everyone, but will be primarily tailored for a young-adult to adult audience, Botten said. Tickets for the event are general admission only and begin at $18; you can purchase them in-person at Holley’s Place on the corner of Tower Avenue and Locust Street in downtown Centralia, or online at www.hubcitycomedy.com.

The show begins at 8 p.m. Saturday. For more information, find Hub City Comedy on Facebook at Facebook.com/HubCityComedyWA or on Twitter at Twitter.com/HubCityComedyWA.
