A Kelso woman is suspected of driving under the influence Monday night when authorities say she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a barrier on Interstate 5 near Rose Valley.

A Washington State Patrol press memo states the crash occurred around 8:20 p.m. near milepost 36, when Justice K. Simpson, 28 was driving southbound on I-5 and she lost control of her 2004 black Honda Civic, striking a concrete barrier on the left side.

The report states Simpson was not wearing a seat belt, was injured and transported to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center. Her Honda was totaled and the crash is under investigation.

The report says troopers are pursuing DUI charges for Simpson.

Cowlitz County District Court records show her arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday. She is also facing the charge of driving without a license in the third degree.
