A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted assault after he threatened area store employees with a knife, according to police.
The man had no known address, Lt. Paul Lower said.
About 7:30 a.m. Sept. 12, police were dispatched to Ralph's Thriftway in the 1900 block of Fourth Avenue East for a disorderly person allegedly threatening employees with a knife in the parking lot.
The employees allege the man "flashed" the knife at them. The man was taken into custody without incident, Lower said.
This incident also was reported in the Olympia Police Department's "weekly update" newsletter for the Sept. 12 to Sept. 25 period.
"In one arrest, the suspect pulled out a knife and advanced towards employees," the newsletter reads. "They asked him to leave the property."
The newsletter goes on to say that "employees locked him out," suggesting that they re-entered the store and locked the doors.
