Fibre Federal Credit Union has announced this year’s Lewis County recipients from its Communities First Program, a multi-year sponsorship for hospitals and community colleges within the eleven Washington and Oregon counties it serves.

“Fibre Federal places a high priority on supporting educational and healthcare related services throughout its communities, and that mission developed into the Communities First Program in 2018,” the credit union stated in a news release.

To date, the credit union has donated $238,000 to Communities First recipients, including 13 hospital foundations and seven community college foundations.

Lewis County’s recipients are the Arbor Health Foundation, the Providence Southwest Washington Foundation and the Centralia College Foundation.

According to the release, Fibre Federal’s 2024 donation funds will be used in the following ways:

  • $2,000: The Arbor Health Foundation used the donation toward Morton Hospital’s Captain Hook’s Pirate Dinner Auction, which raises funds for new patient room comfort furniture. Communities First Program lifetime donations to date: $4,000.
  • $2,000: Providence Southwest Washington Foundation’s funds will help expand awareness of the Paw-Assisted Wellness Services (PAWS) program through internal billboards at Providence Centralia Hospital. PAWS provides animal therapy bonding to patients, visitors, and staff. Communities First Program lifetime donations to date: $4,000.
  • $2,500: Centralia College Foundation’s funds are funneled toward scholarships for students pursuing a degree in business. Communities First Program lifetime donations to date: $5,000.
