In loving memory of Elizabeth F. “Jill” Feuchter: 1936-2024

Posted

On March 4, 2024, Mom passed peacefully into the arms of God while surrounded by family in her home.

Elizabeth F. “Jill” Feuchter was born Oct. 3, 1936, on Puget Island in Wahkiakum County to Al and Lyla Freitag. Jill had an older brother, Jack, thereby earning her the nickname, Jill, from there on.

Jill proudly graduated from Wa-Ki-Hi in Cathlamet, Washington, and was forever a fierce lifelong Mule. Following high school, Jill attended Central Washington State College (CWU) and earned her bachelor’s degree in library sciences as well as her master’s degree. While Jill was at CWU, she met L. Robert "Bob" Feuchter and, after a short courtship, the two were married on New Year's Eve 1959.

Jill began her library sciences career in Tacoma until she and Bob settled on the Feuchter homestead in Doty, Washington, where they designed and built their dream home. Jill continued her educational career at Pe Ell, teaching English and foreign languages. Most importantly, she proudly served the students of the community until her retirement. After she retired, she joyfully spent her leisure time researching and recording the local history and her and Bob's family's genealogy.

Jill was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her son, Greg; her brother, Jack; and sister-in-law, Arlene. She is survived by her eldest son, Jim, and his wife, Christa, as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandnieces, grandnephews and her favorite nephew, Eric Freitag, and his wife Angela.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the people of Assured Hospice for their care, instruction and kindness and a special thank you to Janet Shepherd and Burgandy Jo Sanders for their support and guidance.

A celebration of life and potluck will be held at 1 p.m. April 20, 2024, at the vets hall in Pe Ell, Washington. All are welcome to attend to share stories and reminisce.
