In Loving Memory of Elsie (Kathy) Owen: 1925-2023

Elsie (Kathy) Lundeen Owen, a direct descendant of the pioneers of Thurston County families of Lundeen, Sarjent, Rutledge, and Mounts, died at the age of 97 in her home in Prineville, Oregon on March 29, 2023. Born Sept. 9, 1925 in Centralia, Washington to Clarence L. and Donna (Sargent) Lundeen, she was raised on Michigan Hill and attended Rochester schools. She married James L. Owen in 1945 in Raymond. During the war her husband was stationed in Pensacola, Florida and that is where their son, Thomas, was born. After the war they lived mostly in the Centralia area until 1955 when they moved to Alaska and resided in Anchorage and Homer. Widowed in 1984, she returned to the Centralia area in 1989. Surviving her are a son Thomas of Boston, Massachusetts; a daughter and son-in-law Mary and Larry Burdick of Prineville, Oregon; and a granddaughter and her husband Katie Burdick- Johnson and Colin Johnson. She also has two nephews and their families who reside in Washington. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Robert and her husband James. She was a member of St. Timothy Episcopal Church in Chehalis, Washington. An inurnment will be held later at the family plot in the Grand Mound Cemetery.
