She graduated from Centralia High School in 1953 and soon thereafter attended Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills Alberta, Canada, graduating in 1957. During her time at Prairie, she met the love of her life, Douglas Day. In April of 1957, they were married in Centralia where they would remain so for nearly 52 years, until the passing of Douglas in 2009. She loved teaching and playing music, studying the Bible, gardening, reading, bird-watching, crocheting, traveling to see family, exercising at Thorbeckes and watching Mariners baseball!
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her oldest son Stephen Day (Kamploops, B. C. Canada). She is survived by three sons, James of High Prairie, Washington; Philip George, of Shelton, Washington; Jonathan, of Winlock, Washington; daughter, Jeanette Milatz of Crossville, Alabama; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Central Bible Evangelical Free Church, located at 2333 Sandra Ave., Centralia. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Esther’s life and legacy of sharing the gospel of Jesus! Remembrances may be made to the Venture Club program (formerly Awana) at Central Bible Church or to the Gideon’s Auxiliary of Centralia.
