In loving memory of Floyd Thompson: 1930-2024

Floyd passed away on April 23, 2024 at the age of 93 at home in the arms of his wife and stepdaughter, Tabatha, by his side. 

Floyd was born in a farmhouse in Kenmore, North Dakota, on July 10, 1930 to Linese Kahle and Edward Thompsen. 

He enlisted into the Navy in February of 1950. He served in the Korean War on the USS H.W. Tucker. He received several medals while serving his country. He was honorably discharged in November 1953. 

He went on to college and received his teaching degree. He taught for Rochester School District and then Green Hill Academic School for incarcerated youth. He retired in June 1991 after 30 years of teaching. 

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, VFW, Rotary Club and Moose Lodge. He loved traveling, gardening, fishing and being on his boat named Get-Er-Done! 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Linese and Edward Thompsen; spouses Glenda Louden and Leona Brown-Thompson; sister Mickey; brothers Walter, Cliff, Ray and Lester; and stepson Charles May. 

He is survived by wife Mary (May) Thompson; sister Lucella VanOverbeke; daughters Erica Thompson and Margo (Jon) Neel; sons Richard (Carla), Robert (Lina), Thomas (Tracy) Thompson; stepchildren Tabatha Fenton, Kyle (Amanda); and Steven (Tracey) May; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on September 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Port Townsend, WA.
