James C. Ion passed away Dec. 31, 2023, in Centralia, Washington, his home of 44 years. He was born March 7, 1943, to Hubert Joseph Ion and Frances Elizabeth Ion in Chicago, Illinois. Over the years, he also resided in St. John, Oregon; Rochester, Washington; and Naches, Washington.
James served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam war. He married Lisbeth Jean Brooks on July 2, 1971, in Portland, Oregon. Professionally, he worked for Puget Power and Light, 1972-98, and in a computer shop from 2000-03.
He loved helping fix people’s computers, reading, cooking and making candles.
James is survived by his wife, Lisbeth J. Ion, of Centralia; sisters, Fran Woolley, of Vancouver, Washington, and Jeanie (Steve) Mastel, of Oregon; nephew, Doug Woolley, of Montana; and nieces, Dana Barden, of Gresham, Oregon, Heather Hamlet, of Vancouver, and Robin Gannon, of Vancouver. He was predeceased by his parents.
