Posted

Jeannette Kay Underwood passed away early morning on Oct. 31, 2023, in Centralia, Washington, after a week-long battle in the ICU, with her daughters by her side.

Jeannette was born on Dec. 18, 1961, in Seattle, Washington, to Elizabeth Hangartner and David Carr. She was one of three children.

Jeannette attended school in Centralia and Wenatchee, Washington. She met Charles in Centralia and they were married on Nov. 6, 1987, in Chehalis, Washington.

Jeannette enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were the "light of her life" as she would say. In her younger years, she enjoyed working as a caregiver, taking care of the elderly. She enjoyed plants and planting them in her yard with her husband. They were always together and loved each other more than anything.

Jeannette is survived by her children, Amanda and Christian De Los Santos, Jami and Gregorio Underwood and Ronnie Jennings; eight grandchildren, Maria, Dulce, Itzel, Ebeni, Araceli, Javi, Julio and Naomi; her mother, Elizabeth Hangartner; sister, Dena Hangartner; brother, Richard Cunningham; four sister-in-laws and three brother-in-laws, Anita and Rick Rowland, Brenda and Alex Lane, Diane and Ken Stoker and Babby Underwood; along with many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Underwood; mother- and father-in-law, Charles and Wanda Underwood; and her grandmother.

A graveside service will be held at noon Nov. 12 at Claquato Cemetery, 142 Stearns Road, Chehalis, with a celebration of life directly following at the Lewis and Clark Event Center at 117 W. Magnolia St., Centralia.
