In Loving Memory of Josephine Workman: 1928-2023

Josephine Workman passed away June 27, 2023, at her home in Morton, Washington at the age of 95. She was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Blackey, Buchanan County, Virginia to Paris and Virgie (Stacy) Justus. 

Josephine married Dewey Workman in Montesano on Aug. 23, 1947. They both enjoyed gardening, canning green beans and sharing produce with family and friends. 

Josephine had three children, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dewey Workman, sisters Gennetter Justus and Geneva Workman, brothers James Edward Justus and Thurman Justus, son Vern Workman, and grandson Darryl Cookston. 

She is survived by daughter Leola Cookston, of Shelton; son Warren Workman, of Shelton; sisters Alkie Zandecki, of Silver Creek, Bea Blankenship, of Columbus, Ohio, Mary Bradshaw, of Mossyrock; and brother Curtis Justus, of Kingsport, Tennessee. 

She is also survived by grandsons Lance Workman, Trant Workman, Caleb Workman, Aaron Workman, all of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jamie Workman, of Shelton; and granddaughters Tracey Cookston, of Shelton, Rayna Tucker, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Shanon Case, of Morton. 

Josephine was a dedicated member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 60 years. 

A celebration of life will be held on July 29 at her home in Morton.
