Kevin Samuel Young passed away Sept. 18, 2023, at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver, Washington, after a 14-month battle with cancer.
Kevin was born June 5, 1963, and grew up in Winlock, Washington, graduating in 1981 from Mount St. Helens High School. He graduated cum sum laude from the Oregon Institute of Technology in 1988 preceding a 25-year career with Kiewit Construction, where he moved up from a maintenance engineer and finished as lead project heavy equipment manager. He retired in 2021 to spend time with his family.
Kevin’s highest priority in life was his family and his beloved pets.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Cathy; his sons, Colby, of Vancouver, McKay (fiancé Monika), of Seattle, and Kallen, of Bellingham; sister, Karen (Burt) Barnes; brother, Keith (Lynda) Young; and nieces and nephews who loved and admired him deeply. He was also very close to his aunts and uncles.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother Louella Miller, stepfather John Miller, and brother Kenneth.
In lieu of flowers, Kevin requested donations to either Messiah Preschool in Vancouver, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Wounded Warrior Foundation.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 30, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winlock.
