In loving memory of Ray Benjamin Hoven: 1945-2024

Posted

Ray Benjamin Hoven was born May 25, 1945, in Ryderwood, Washington, and died at home in Longview, Washington, July 4, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Hoven; mother, Edith Hoven; and all 13 brothers and sisters. He is survived by wife, Beverly Hoven; son, Paul Hoven; son, Edward Davis; daughter, Amber Berwick; and three grandchildren.

He always said there are no "steps" in this family. If you're in, you're in. That is also how he treated friends as family.

Ray would often be found helping others, whether they were family, friends or in the community, such as his behind the scenes work for the Lewis County Relay for Life. He was also a member of the Lions Club.

He graduated from college with a technical degree in mechanics and also worked as a forklift operator for Hampton Lumber Mill until his retirement. He loved living his best life riding his Harleys, dancing, flying multi-stacked kites, camping, fishing and woodworking.

Per Ray's request, there was no viewing or services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Longview/Cowlitz County hospice.
