In loving memory of Reverend William Hassler: 1933-2026

Reverend William L. “Bill” Hassler, 93, of Napavine, Washington, passed away on Sept. 18, 2026, at Chehalis West Assisted Living Center, with his wife, Mary Ann, by his side. He was born in Tacoma, Washington, on Feb. 12, 1933, the son of Herbert and Katherine (Hagen) Hassler.

Bill attended Tacoma schools, then graduated from Bates Trade School and became a professional painter, working mostly in the Chehalis, Washington, area. He then graduated in 1964 from Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri. He became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God Church. He served over 50 years as a senior pastor in this denomination. His life was devoted to preaching the Word, counseling those in need and visiting the sick. He would not hesitate to help fix a church door, comfort a grieving family or lead a newcomer to Christ.

Bill pastored in Springfield, Missouri; Waveland, Mississippi; Toledo, Washington; Forks, Washington; and Chehalis, Washington. He retired as senior pastor in July 2000 and then was a pastor at a retirement community in Yuma, Arizona, for six years.

Bill and Mary Ann (Guenther) were married in Chehalis, Washington, on Dec. 5, 1953, and celebrated over 72 years together. They enjoyed traveling together, taking several cruise trips with friends and relatives. They also enjoyed spending winters in Arizona for many years.

Bill was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Gene Hassler and Bernice Hassler-Jennings.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; children, Diane (Dave, spouse) Lipinski, of Centralia, Washington, Darryl (Joyce, spouse) Hassler, of Chehalis, Washington, and Donna Kohler (Mike White, fiancé), of Napavine, Washington; grandchildren, Kyle, Kara, Mark, Jill, Mallory, Jenessa and Bradley; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Hannah, Ben, Brock, Lauren, Carter and Chandler.

Bill is also survived by siblings, Louise Calkins, of Puyallup, Washington, Margie McConnell, of Goodyear, Arizona, and Larry Hassler, of Seattle, Washington.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Napavine Assembly of God Church, 414 Second Ave. N.E., Napavine, Washington 98565.
