Richard “Dick” Wayne Carl, 87, passed away July 5, 2023, at his home in Allyn, Washington, in the care of his loving family.
A celebration of life and interment will take place later this year. Cremation has taken place. Dick was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Oakville, Washington, the son of Earl Edward and Kathleen Bernice (Clark) Carl. He graduated from Oakville High School in 1955 and was hired by the Department of Licensing in Olympia shortly thereafter. After retiring from the state, he became a personal caretaker and had a special love for taking care of others. In 1957, Dick married Lillian Erickson and the couple had three children, Dawn Marie, Earl Edward and Jeffery Allen. They later separated and Dick met his life partner, Victor Lennon, in 1980. They were together for 44 years and were able to be together until Dick passed. These two unions blessed him with a host of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his family dearly. Richard suffered a stroke in 2015 and moved to Torrington, Wyoming, to be close to his children until he fully recovered in 2020.
He had a love for gardening, flowers and travel and always lived his life to the fullest, making numerous friends along the way.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother Gary Carl.
Dick is survived by his partner, Victor; children, Dawn (David) Cronk, Earl (Janna) Carl, Jeff (Denise) Carl, Jill (Larry) Seymour and Jennifer (Daniel) Todd; grandchildren, Jill (Sara) Truesdale, Jane (Byron) Nesvog, Byron (Kerry) Cronk, Nick (Krystal) Mechtel, Naomi Brown, Ashley Carl, Tim (Naomi) Carl, David Carl, Haley and Payton Carl, Caressa (Sean) Persey, Lyra (Tyler) Seymour, Randell (Jessica) Seymour, Dan (Catlynn) Todd; great-grandchildren, Noam Truesdale, Sally, Benji and Simon Nesvog, Weston and Maria Cronk, Jadyn, Eden, Nicholas and Lincoln Mechtel, Jaxon Carl, Lewis Carl, Warren and Camillie Persey, Thea and Fraja Seymour, Killan, Beatrix, Jason, Savanna and Sam Todd; brother, Edward (Amy) Carl; sister-in-law, Virginia Carl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
